Composer in Residence at Toronto Symphony Orchestra's New Creations Festival
Osvaldo Golijov is the composer in residence for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's New Creations Festival, held February 25-March 3, 2010. The opening concert features Azul with cellist Alisa Weilerstein, as well as Three Songs for Soprano and Orchestra with Dawn Upshaw. A World Premiere for piano, voice, and hyper-accordion
A new work will have its premiere on March 12 at Barbican Hall in London, featuring Emanuel Ax, piano; Dawn Upshaw, soprano; and Michael Ward-Bergeman, hyper-accordion. The London performance will be followed by perfromances in Berlin, Amsterdam, New York and Los Angeles. [www.greatperformers.org.uk]
Final concerts as Composer in Residence in Chicago
Osvaldo Golijov's final concerts as Composer in Residence at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra take place March 10, 11, 12 and 15, 2010. The subscription performances on the 10th-12th feature Golijov's song cycle She Was Here with Jessica Rivera, soprano and Robert Spano, conductor.
